BreezeBrowser Pro 1.12.1 & 1.12

BreezeBrowser Pro 1.12.1 was released on 17 March 2021.

BreezeBrowser Pro 1.12.1

  • introduces  support for HEIC/HEIF images from mobile devies
  • fixes an issue  displaying thumbnails of Olympus E-M1X raw files
  • removes references to raw conversion
  • BreezeBrowser Pro 1.9.8.10 icon is now clearly identified on the desktop

BreezeBrowser Pro 1.12

BreezeBrowser Pro 1.12 was released on 23 October last year.  This release

  • added support for displaying focus points from the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 cameras
  • fixed an issue extracting the embedded JPEG preview images from some Canon CR3 raw files

Viewing HEIC/HEIF images from mobile devices

BreezeBrowser Pro 1.12.1  supports viewing HEIC/HEIF images from mobile devices.

To view HEIC/HEIF images in BreezeBrowser Pro, first install two Microsoft extensions to Windows.

  1. HEIF Image Extensions is a free download from the Microsoft Store
  2. HEVC Video Extensions can be purchased from the Microsfot Store for a small fee ( currently about US $1)

Note: Only 8-bit HEIF images with a .heif or .heic file extension are currently supported by the Microsoft HEIF and HEIC extensions. 10-bit HEIF images from some recent cameras (e.g. Canon EOS R5, R6 and Canon EOS 1DX Mark III) are not supported.

 Raw conversion

Sadly camera manufacturers no longer supply libraries for converting raw files from their cameras, so new releases of BreezeBrowser Pro can no longer support Raw conversion.

Customers running recent releases can still use BreezeBrowser Pro to convert raw files by installing BreezeBrowser Pro v1.9.8.10 in a separate folder.

BreezeBrowser Pro still displays raw files

Solving camera connection problems

The first Breeze tutorial of 2021 has been written to help fix that most irritating issue – when the camera won’t connect to the app. Finding the cause can be difficult and frustrating.  Solving camera connection problems is here to help.

While this tutorial focuses on  Booth (Windows + DSLR)  aka DSLR Remote Pro, Breeze Multi-Camera and Flipbook users, most of the content also applies to other camera control apps.

With very best wishes for 2021,

Breeze DSLR Remote Pro 3.15.4 supports Canon 850D (Rebel T8i), M50 Mark II, R5 and R6

DSLR Remote Pro 3.15.4 aka Breeze Booth (DSLR + Windows) was released late yesterday, 9 December, 2020.

DSLR Remote Pro is a highly configurable, yet simple to use Windows based photo booth and tethered shooting application for Canon cameras.

Learn more about this powerful program here

What’s new in v3.15.4?

This release adds support for four new Canon cameras; an update to the popular M50 mirror-less model, two new R series mirrorless cameras and the latest EOS REBEL.

Support for

  • 850D/Rebel T8i/Kiss X10i
  • M50 Mark II/Kiss M2
  • EOS R5
  • EOS R6

Plus

  • A new token {field2,n,ch,str} gives additional flexibility extracting data from a longer string
  • Fixes for issues with AI background removal when mirror output images is selected, and setting the owner string, artist and copyright information on recent camera models.

Support for new cameras

The EOS 850D ( Rebel T8i) replaces Canon’s EOS 800D (Rebel T7i) camera, and the mirrorless M50 Mark II replaces Canon’s popular M50.

The mirrorless R5 and R6 are both superb cameras – Chris waxes lyrical about them. They are an expensive option for photo booth use.

Automatically Changing Print Layouts in DSLR Remote Pro

Breeze Booth (Windows + DSLR) aka DSLR Remote Pro and Breeze Booth for iPad both give you the power to

  • surprise guests with varied and personalised designs,
  • build custom promotions into fixed installations in advance
  • use custom designs and unique vouchers at  regular and one-off occasions such as Happy Hour and New Years Eve. Pre-program end off event specials

I have just added the first of two tutorials which explain how to set up custom Breeze Booth (Windows + DSLR) print and GIF designs which change either randomly or in predetermined ways.

  • Part 1 shows how to create randomly selected layouts, prize notifications, and automatically change the overlay and/or print at specific times and dates. Part 1 uses print layouts as examples.
  • Part 2 will show how to use the same approach with GIFs.

Contactless Data Capture

Soon after we released support for contactless booths, Breeze user  Ewan Sou shared a video explaining how to capture guest data and generate  QR codes for contactless operation on your own WordPress website. You can use this approach with both iPad and DSLR/Windows based booths.

Ewan has kindly agreed we can share his very helpful guide with a wider audience through the blog.

Ewan’s work flow creates a QR code containing both email address and guest data. Data is automatically transferred to Breeze photo booth programs Booth (Pad and iPhone), and DSLR Remote Pro when the QR code is scanned. You will also receive an email copy of data guests enter into the form.

This registration form for an imaginary conference followed Ewan’s approach. NB All data your enter into the form is emailed to Breeze.

A huge thank you to Ewan for creating this video and sharing it with the Breeze community.
