Chris believes the face detect auto focus gives the EOS R10 great potential for photo booth use.

Single use QR Code coupons

QR codes offer a fast and safe way for guests to interact with your photo booth and image sharing products.

New single use QR codes are a secure way to issue QR code ‘coupons’ which run the booth for a single session.

  • Use them at theme parks, events and attractions where each vistor is entitled to a single booth session
  • Combine them with  an online payment mechanism, sending guests a code when their payment has been accepted

Secure single use QR codes also make an attractive alternative to conventional payment booths.  Take payments online and provide secure single use QR codes which run a single session when scanned.

Reminders: Breeze apps require Intel Processors & End of support for 8.1

Important reminders for anyone choosing a new computer, or running machines with old versions of Windows.

ARM Processors

When choosing new computers to run Breeze Windows progams take care to choose models with Intel processors.

Some recent Windows computers (including the Microsoft Surface Pro X) use the new ARM processors. Breeze apps are designed for Intel processors and will not run on ARM processors.

More about choosing a photo booth computer to run Breeze

End of support for Windows 8.1

You may know that Microsoft will end Extended Support for Windows 8.1 on January 10 2023. Microsoft support for Windows 8 ended back in 2016.

Breeze are no longer able to provide support for Windows 8, and will end support for our software running on Windows 8.1 on January 10th 2023.

When Microsoft end support for a version of their operating system, we can no longer test or support our products on this operating system safely.

If you are still running Breeze programs on Windows 8 or 8.1 we strongly recommend you upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible.

I’m still running Breeze on Windows 8.1, will the program stop working on January 10th?

If you are already running a Breeze program on Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, we don’t expect it to stop working. However we recommend you upgrade your operating system to Windows 11 as soon as possible. Take a copy of both registration name and code, and deactivate the license before you start in case of problems.

Which versions of Windows will you support after January 11th?

From January 11th we will support Intel processors running Windows 11 and 10 (not Windows 11 S or 10 S).

Can I still upgrade my old Breeze license?

Any customer with a valid license for a current Breeze product can buy an upgrade license. All our Windows products include at least one year of free upgrades from the date the license was issued.

Choosing a computer for your Windows photo booth

My all time favorite comment in the Breeze Facebook group began

Anything with more processing power than a potato can generally run Breeze.

It’s absolutely true that you can run a stills Breeze photo booth on a low powered computer, although we don’t support the King Edward or Yukon Gold.

The same poster added

…I’m not doing gifs or videos, just photo layouts and prints.

Which was a sensible caveat. Before choosing your computer, think how it will be used.

Videos, burst GIFs, photos with filters, background removal and other effects run much better on a more powerful machine.

Probably not the best power source for a video booth

We have added a new page to the website Choosing a computer for your photo booth.

This page replaces one of our most popular blog posts and includes advice about hardware requirements for processing videos quickly. This is  probably the most demanding task for a photo booth computer.

Have a great weekend,

Sue

Video preview

Guests  playback the final video before sharing it.

Can I add these effects to slow motion videos?

Sure. Speed up, slow down, reverse direction – add all the effects above to your slow motion videos.

New samples folder for testing designs

DSLR Remote Pro’s simulated camera mode lets you run the booth without a camera while building and testing designs.

DSLR Remote Pro 3.17 adds a set of four sample photos to use during testing.

GIF created from sample images included with DSLR Remote Pro 3.17

Use these or your own images to create prints, GIFs, processed photos etc while running in simulated camera mode.

If you prefer to use your own images, create a subfolder  called Photobooth Samples in your Documents folder and place JPG photos and MP4 movies there.

New tutorial – Using Touch Screen Actions to customize Breeze screens

Breeze apps offer unparalled creative control over what guests see and experience at your booth. The power and flexibility of touch screen actions are key to this experience.

When Breeze Booth apps are powered by touch screens, touch screen actions control what happens when a guest touches the screen.

I have added a new tutorial to the website to help DSLR Remote Pro, Multi-Camera, Webcam Photobooth & Flipbook Photobooth users use these actions to take control of the guest interface. Find Customizing Breeze Screens here
