Gmail Authentication – sending gmail emails from Breeze

Google changed the requirements for authenticating Gmail emails this year. As a result many Gmail users found they could no longer send emails from third party apps.

*Update July 2022: The following Breeze programs and subsequent releases support Gmail authentication

DSLR Remote Pro v3.15
Breeze Kiosk v2
Webcam Photobooth 2.6
Breeze Hub v1.2.3

How does this affect emails from Breeze?

Gmail users now need to  ‘authenticate’ ie approve third party applications which send emails from their gmail accounts.

If you do not use gmail to send emails from Breeze, this post does not affect you.

The latest release of DSLR Remote Pro (v3.15) adds support for Gmail’s new authentication requirements.

You will need to authenticate Gmail emails for Breeze on every PC sending gmail emails from DSLR Remote Pro. The remainder of this post explains how to do this.

How to get your Gmail emails working again:

DSLR Remote Pro 3.15  users should go to the Email Server Settings screen, and

(1) Set Host to gmail.

What about other Breeze programs?

We will be adding Gmail authentication support to our other Windows apps in the next release of each program.

For the time being we suggest using an alternative email service to send emails from Breeze
