The new Breeze email service is a much better solution for photo booth use than iOS mail and works without any set up. iOS mail has been removed from Breeze Booth for iPad 2.0.

What about Breeze Hub?

Most users are now best sending emails directly from Breeze Booth for iPad. You can still send emails from Hub if you wish.

*Is there any limit to the number of emails I can send?

Breeze don’t limit the number of emails sent using your own email service. The Breeze email service includes up to 1000 emails/month/subscription, which is plenty for most customers. If you expect to send more emails than this, just switch to your own email provider.

**GDPR, Personal data and the Breeze email service

Breeze aren’t in business to track your customers, so the Breeze email service does not include any tracking cookies in emails sent from the App.

Our email service provider retains the To address, Subject and body of emails for a limited period.  They do not store attachments ie guesy photos and GIFs- whether sent as attachments or in the boady of emails.  Breeze Systems are allowed access to this data, but would only view this information when it is necessary to provide operational support.

If you need total control over access to and storage of personal data we recommend using your own email host. Full Privacy Policy

Breeze hold no information about emails sent from Breeze Booth for iPad using your own email host.

Kiosk 2.0: Contactless sharing and clipboard

What’s new in Kiosk 2.0?

We have added a bunch of great new features in the latest release of Kiosk. Guests can collect and share several images using the new clipboard. You are loving Touch free operation in DSLR Remote Pro and Booth (iPad + iPhone), so we have added touch free sharing to Kiosk.

There’s more –  Kiosk 2.0 introduces a QR code based filter you can use so guests see only their own images.

Kiosk 2.0 also adds a new startup screen displayed while Kiosk loads the first images, an improved algorithm for caching thumbnails, support for Gmail’s new authentication requirements, and a few fixes.

Select and share several images

Guests can select several photos, GIFs or videos and share them in a single email with the new Kiosk clipboard

You can choose the look and position of the clipboard, and set a limit to the number of images guests can share.

Scan to share

When you run a contactless booth with Breeze DSLR Remote Pro or Breeze Booth (iPad + iPhone), guests can use Kiosk to share photos, GIFs and videos  by scanning  the QR code used to control the photo booth.

Emailing photo by scanning the QR code used to power a contactless booth (Breeze Kiosk 2.0)

Guests can also scan to share  all the clipboard images in a single email:

Guests see just their own images

At large events and those where GDPR or privacy is a concern, guests scan their unique QR code and display just their own images at the kiosk. Learn more about automatic image filtering.

Image filtering using  a unique identifier ssuch as email address (Breeze Kiosk 2.0)

Note:  When filtering images include email address* or another unique identifer in both QR code and DSLR Remote Pro or Booth (iPad + iPhone) image filenames.

New startup screen

startup.jpg is a new screen displayed while images are being loaded into Kiosk each time it starts.

Usually only the operator sees this screen. To replace it with your own version  add  a jpg called startup.jpg to the Kiosk screen images folder. Like other screens startup.jpg should be the same size  in pixels as the screen on the device.

Gmail authentication

Google changed the requirements for authenticating Gmail emails this year.

To send Gmail emails from a PC running Kiosk you will need to ‘authenticate’ ie approve third party applications which send emails from their gmail accounts. Go to the Kiosk 2.0 Email Server Settings screen and enter gmail in the Host field. You can find step by step instructions for DSLR Remote Pro here. Authentication for Kiosk works in the same way.

Try Kiosk 2.0 for yourself

Breeze Kiosk 2.0 is a free upgrade for all registered users who purchased Kiosk after 5th June 2019. Customers with older licenses need to buy an upgrade license to use this release.

How to add consent checkboxes to Breeze Kiosk

The introduction of GDPR has focussed interest on the ability to obtain specific, granular consent from guests. Breeze Kiosk is ready to help.

Breeze Kiosk 1.4.4 allows you to present up to 10 consent boxes to guests when they email, or text images, upload them to Facebook or Twitter. Each check box can be opt-in or pre-checked, optional or mandatory.

Note: You can also add consent boxes to the sharing screens for DSLR Remote Pro and Webcam Photobooth.  You can also survey guests in DSLR Remote Pro, record consent for sharing and display privacy information before the images are taken.

Great – so how do I add a consent box?

Start Breeze Kiosk and select (1)Settings

(2)Select the folder you want Breeze Kiosk to watch for images

(3) Check the appropriate boxes to say whether you want to display still images(JPEG), animated GIFs and/or MP4and movies

(4) You will need to select a folder where the screen images used by Breeze Kiosk are stored.

(5) Check boxes to tell the program which print and sharing options you want to offer guests.

In this post I will show you how to add a consent check boxes when guests email photos.

(6) Go to the email server settings screen

Breeze Kiosk email server settings screen
Set Breeze Kiosk to log email addresses entered in a csv file

(If this is the first time you have sent emails from Breeze Kiosk on this computer, you will need to set up the settings for your email server)

(7)Check the box to log email addresses to a file, and tell the program what this file is called/where to find it.

If you need to send  emails offline check the offline mode box at (8) before pressing OK.

Now we need to copy (or create your own) XML file and put in into the folder which holds your screen images. Don’t panic if you have never seen XML before! There are some examples you can copy in the program help files .  All we need to do is make a few simple tweaks.

Copy and paste this text from the Breeze Kiosk help file into a text editor such as Microsoft Notepad (which comes free with Windows 10)

Example XML for email keyboard Breeze Kiosk 1.4.4
Defining the guest consent text and checkbox for emailed images. Breeze Kiosk 1.4.4 (a_

(9) This checkbox has value 0 (zero) for opt-in consent. For pre-checked consent change the value to 1

(10) The text for this check box has been highlighted in green. Change this to the wording you need.

(11) When you finish your changes, select File to save them. You need to call the file email_keyboard.xml and save it in the folderyou chose for your screen images. [As (4) above]

email_keyboard.xml is saved in the screens folder

While I am here, how do I change the background color of the email screen?

Breeze Kiosk email screen XML
XML for email screen with white background and custom pre-checked consent box Breeze Kiosk 1.4.4

(12) To change the color of the background screen and of the text of your prompts (13), you need to add the text highlighted in green to your XML.

<background_color>0xFFFFFF</background_color>
<key_text_color>0x000000</key_text_color>

0xFFFFFF is the HEX notation for RGB  white.  0x000000 is the HEX notation for RGB black. Hint: If you haven’t come across HEX notation for RGB colors before, use Photoshop or google RGB color checker to identify the color you want to use.

Now when my guest selects the email icon they see this white screen:

Email keyboard for Breeze Kiosk with pre-checked consent
Email keyboard with custom consent Breeze Kiosk 1.4.4

How to I add two or more check boxes?

You need to add these three lines for the second check box

Example xml for email keyboard with two check boxes Breeze Kiosk 1.4.4

The second check box is opt-in, so the prompt value is 0 (zero). I have also changed the Y coordinate of the check box to place it below the first box. The final result is here:
